Role Summary
IVS is looking to recruit a highly motivated, keen, and enthusiastic Technical Sales Engineer (TSE) who can work effectively as part of an experienced and focussed sales team. As an TSE, you will be involved in the full sales cycle from lead generation through to closing the deal. You will work alongside the engineering and sales team to develop quotations under the guidance of the Sales & Marketing Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow up on inbound and warm inquiries generated through marketing channels, nurturing and qualifying prospects.
- Work with the sales and engineering teams to create detailed proposals, technical presentations and solutions.
- Proactively reach out to potential customers through various channels, including phone calls, emails, and social media.
- Build and maintain existing accounts of our global customer base.
- Engage with prospects across different sectors and geographies, understanding their challenges and effectively communicating the value our products can provide.
- Qualify leads and assess their suitability for our products or services.
- Carry out meetings or demos with qualified prospects.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of leads and interactions in Salesforce.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to align lead-generation efforts.
- Work with the sales team to build strategies to reach sales targets.
- Continuously update your knowledge of our products and industry trends.
- Provide feedback to improve lead generation and qualification processes.
- Assist in the development of sales scripts and outreach strategies.
- Contribute to the development of sales collateral and materials.
- Attend industry events or trade shows to network and identify potential leads.
- Support the sales team in achieving quarterly and annual revenue targets.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in sales, customer service, or lead generation in a highly technical discipline.
- Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Educated to degree level preferably in an Engineering, Business or Marketing discipline (2.1 or above).
- Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) software and sales tools.
- Ability to establish and maintain relationships.
- Goal-oriented mindset and a desire to meet and exceed targets.
- A logical approach to problem-solving and strong negotiation abilities.
- Well organised, ability to work to deadlines and high attention to detail.
- Ability and willingness to work as part of a team.
- Experience as a sales development representative, with a track record of achieving sales targets
- Proficiency with Salesforce or other CRM software
- Knowledge of manufacturing and industrial automation.
- Knowledge of machine vision.
- Clean and full UK driving licence.

IVS is located on the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus, in the heart of the rolling Oxfordshire countryside. The UK’s innovation hub. Harwell is a science and technology campus with outstanding people and world-leading facilities.
Harwell offers an outstanding quality of life. South Oxfordshire was recently named as the rural area with the best quality of life in Great Britain and national surveys regularly rate the city of Oxford and the county of Oxfordshire very highly for residents’ quality of life. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, the campus is within easy reach of picturesque towns and villages, including the historic centre of Oxford to the north and the quintessentially English market town of Newbury and its famous racecourse to the south.

Fitness enthusiasts are well catered for. The campus boasts a variety of facilities and several sports clubs for those who work on-site. With surrounding woodland paths, wide open roads, hills and broad vistas, Harwell is ideal for runners and cyclists. Facilities include tennis courts and sports fields featuring a cricket pitch and pavilion. Sports clubs at Harwell include football, rounders, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, archery, running, yoga and an Aunt Sally league.
There are paths for ramblers, including the ancient Ridgeway path and Icknield Way, which offer incredible views of the open countryside that surrounds the Campus. Fitness trainers and health therapists are also available.
