Explore some of the key features and benefits of using IVS vision inspection systems for automotive, engineering and component production
Fully automated complete sub-assembly inspection and conformance checking cells, providing 100% quality control checks using machine vision. For the inspection of large assemblies and component parts – including engines, chassis, headlights, grills, bumpers, supports, beams, rails, tailgates, seats, trim, cab and electronic assemblies.
Ideal for automated quality control inspection and sorting as part of the in-line production process. From surface imperfections, parts missing, gross defects, shorts and flashing through to dimensional checks, shape quality and assembly conformance.
Manual or auto-load inspection benches for semi-automated or manual and low volume manufacturing lines. Quality control and poka-yoke vision inspection for automotive products following assembly operations.
Non-contact measurement and inspection machines provide peace of mind for manufacturers by providing accurate scanning, inspection and reporting in one. Reports are generated for individual parts, giving full inspection history and validated results. Reduce your PPM rate and increase quality.
Automated vision inspection machines with conveyor in-feed, multiple axis and integrated reject for quality assurance following assembly and build operations. Built to allow 360 degree inspection from all sides, providing flaw and defect detection in real-time during your production process flow.
IVS inspection machines utilise state-of-the-art machine vision technology to provide mission critical quality checks across the automotive manufacturing sector, making precise quality decisions automatically.
Check your build sequence to the manifest. A highly flexible end of line automated car inspection and conformance cell which removes human error in the complete quality check of car body conformance to specification. Protect your brand and stop delivering bad product.
With adaptable vision sensors to provide complete coverage, our car conformance systems inspect even the most mundane tasks, freeing up your employees’ time to add value to other stages of automotive production.
Configurable inspection vision sensor system utilising state-of-the-art artificial intelligence for quality control checks on VIN (Vehicle Identification Numbers) and general manufacturing scribes, stamps and markings.
With adaptable vision sensor controls to cope with the body-in-white environment, our VIN vision systems inspect even in the harshest conditions. VIN data can also be compared to robot and PLC information for full track and trace of vehicles through production. Images can be saved for later recall and warranty issues.
Inspection cells utilising state-of-the-art robotics and artificial intelligence vision systems combined with servo-controlled conveyors designed for non-destructive quality control checks on automotive catalyst and associated components.
High resolution sensors provide complete coverage even for larger and metallic products, IVS-CATi inspects with precision detail. Fast throughput conveyors allow quick cycle time inspection and reject for high speed lines.
Easy-to-use vision sensors to find and fix manufacturing issues. Save time and money in production. Intercept defects, detect quality shifts and improve production yields, while reducing rework and increasing quality.

The automotive (automobile) industry comprises a wide range of companies and organisations involved in the design, development, production, marketing, and selling of motor vehicles. It is one of the world’s largest economic sectors by revenue. The worlds largest manufacturers by volume are Toyota, Volkswagen, Hyundai, GM, Ford, Nissan, Fiat Chrysler, Renault and PSA. With China, United States, Japan, India and Germany the top manufacturers of vehicles.
Automotive manufacturing takes place on an assembly line, normally using the principle of Just-In-Time manufacturing processes, allowing each part of the production process to “pull” the assembly into the next one. In an assembly line, car assembly is split between several stations, all working at the same time. When a station is finished with a car, it passes it on to the next. By having multiple stations, many cars in a state of sub-assembly, can be operated on at the same time, each at a different stage of assembly. Thus, multi-level assembly operations become the normal in automobile production. Due to the high turnover and quick assembly to achieve throughput, automotive manufacturing requires machine vision and vision systems integrated into the production process. Quality needs to be checked in real time, with each just-in-time process delivering a 100% quality product to the next.
The parts of the automotive manufacturing chain include components (and sub-assembles), chassis, body (including quarter panels, front and rear door pillars, body side and roof panels). Through to complete assembly, paint line and finally interior assembly – including wiring, instrumentation, dash panels, interior lights, seats, door, trim panels, headliners, radios, speakers, windshield, steering column, pedals, carpeting and fascias. All parts of this assembly process benefit from vision system inspection as part of the on-going quality checks.
