The Post

IVS is looking to recruit a keen and enthusiastic Electrical Design Engineer who can work effectively as part of an experienced engineering team. The role will utilise AutoCAD Electrical to design panels and electrical schematics for small retro-fit camera systems through to large industrial automation machinery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Innovate and Create: Dive headfirst into industrial automation by developing groundbreaking designs. You'll be empowered to bring your ideas to life through designs, architectural diagrams and schematics within AutoCAD Electrical, all the while receiving guidance from our experienced Design Manager.
  • Specify Components: You'll be at the forefront of industrial automation technology, selecting components that drive the future of IVS automation systems. Your expertise will be essential in shaping our cutting-edge systems.
  • Global Standards: Craft designs and drawings that adhere to international Standards as directed by our Design Manager. Your commitment to quality will help us maintain our global reputation for excellence.
  • Collaborate for Success: Operate within our Design team while actively partnering with our Applications Engineering team to ensure projects are delivered on time and with precision. Your teamwork and dedication will be pivotal to our success.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential
·        Minimum of 3+ years of industry experience.
·        Minimum of 3+ years of experience using AutoCAD Electrical or similar package. 
·        Understanding of electrical control gear and industrial automation.
·        Experience designing and creating electrical panel layouts.
·        A logical approach to problem-solving.
·        Well organised, ability to work to deadlines and high attention to detail.
·        Excellent interpersonal skills – both written and verbal.
·        Ability and willingness to work as part of a team.

Desirable
·        Experience using AutoCAD Electrical.
·        Educated to degree level preferably in Electrical Engineering or related fields (2.1 or above).
·        Knowledge of robotics.
·        Knowledge of PLC and controls.
·        Clean and full UK driving licence.

Key Responsibilities

The role shall require you to work as part of the engineering team and be responsible for electrical and mechanical manufacture, fitting and assembly in accordance with engineering schematics/drawings. The post holder will undertake the following duties:
 
·        Building of complete machines to CAD models and drawings, including mechanical assembly, electrical wiring, cable routing and finishing.
·        Wiring of control cabinet panels from detailed wiring drawings.
·        Selecting and use of hand tools and equipment to manufacture parts and assemblies.
·        Preparing parts and sub-assemblies for smaller systems.
·        Performing mechanical and electrical modifications and adjustments during build and test phases.
·        Opportunity to develop automation, mechanical and electrical skills.
 
On-Site Electromechanical Integration:
IVS services extend to integrating our systems and machines onto production floors at customer sites. Therefore, there is a requirement for travel to external sites for planned installations and support, both in the UK and overseas.

·        On-site electro-mechanical integration at customers site within the UK and overseas.
·        Assembly of complete systems, comprising of smaller integrations and machines on-site, including mechanical assembly, electrical wiring, routing and finishing.
·        Occasional site visits to carry out service, electrical/mechanical repairs and scheduled maintenance.
 

Required Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential Skillset
·        Minimum 3-5 years industry experience in an electro-mechanical manufacturing environment.
·        Experience as a skilled electro-mechanical technician, fitter or hands-on engineer.
·        Hands on knowledge of electrical wiring, mechanical building and pneumatics.
·        Ability to accurately read and interpret electrical drawings.
·        Ability to accurately read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and work instructions for both mechanical build and electrical wiring.
·        Ability to use manual and powered hand tools.
·        Ability to consistently apply safe working practice with a high regard to own and others safety and to maintain a clean work environment.
·        Well organised, ability to work to deadlines and a high attention to detail.
·        A logical approach to problem solving.
·        Ability to prioritise a heavy workload.
·        Ability and willingness to work as part of a team.

Desirable Skillset
·        A minimum NVQ Level 3 or BTEC level 3 plus apprenticeship in relevant engineering discipline.
·        Experience using manual mill, lathe, band-saw and general workshop machinery.
·        3-tonne fork lift licence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Learn and become experienced with our machine vision graphical user interface (GUI) software packages.
  • Learn and become experienced with our machine vision technology, such as PCs, cameras, optics, lighting, filters and image processing methods.
  • Design machine vision applications with our machine vision software and hardware.
  • Manage projects, work with team members, and communicate with suppliers and customers.
  • Manage projects to focus on delivering them on time and within budget.
  • Responsible to update internal project documentation, ensuring information is reliable for purchase, traceability, and project metrics analysis.
  • Create specifications and test studies for the design of machine vision applications.
  • Document mechanical, electrical and communication specifications for smaller machine vision systems.
  • Document technical files for our larger machine vision systems.
  • Assist the team with the production of our machines and systems.
  • Integrate and factory acceptance test machine vision systems and machines at IVS site.
  • Integrate, commission and site acceptance test machine vision systems and machines at customer site.
  • Provide training and support for our machine vision machines and systems, either remotely or at customer site.
  • Create machine vision solutions for use in customer demonstrations, evaluations and proposals.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential:
  • Minimum of 2 years of engineering industry experience.
  • Educated to degree level in an Engineering discipline or related field (2.1 or above).
  • Ability to problem solve, be organised, work to deadlines and maintain a high attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills – both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Clean and full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
  • Knowledge of machine vision, image process and deep learning.
  • Knowledge of camera, optic and lighting technology.
